Where PE green comes from

Being renewable, recyclable and able to capture CO2 are advantages of the green Polyethylene I’m greenTM, the biopolymer developped by Braskem. But its soustainable trails starts in the field, in the preparation of the soil that will receive the seedling from the sugar cane, its raw material.

And the history of sugar cane in Brazil began almost on the country’s date of birth. It was its first economic activity, that nowadays is 90% placed far from Amazon.

Brazil is the world’s largest sugarcane producer and second-largest ethanol producer. Approximately 50% of the sugarcane produced is used to make sugar, with Brazil a leading player in world sugar trade, with the remaining 50% used to make ethanol. Ethylene is derived from Ethanol, and is the main component for Polyethilene.
